The Ozone Reo Wave Kite is here!  AK&S have been the first in the world to receive the much awaited for Ozone REO dedicated wave kite.

Despite the damp weather and miserable winds Perth has thrown up lately, it hasn't been enough to quell the enthusiasm for Ozone's latest offering to the world, the REO dedicated wave kite.

The REO was in developement for two years and was a pet project of Rob the designer.  Ozone really wanted to get the Reo perfect and so took twice as long in getting it right.  The attention to perfection is realised in a kite that pretty much exceeded rider expectation.

I first flew the pre production prototypes with Ozone Team Rider, Nathan Ducker back in April at Gnaraloo when we were sent 12, 10, 8 and 6m's to test.  We had good conditions for a real test ie, lighter winds and decent clean surf.  Light winds expose issues with kite far sooner thaan strong winds as all kites fly well in strong winds.

After flying the kites for two days the only changes we made were to shorten the front bridles by about 70mm.  Once the mods were made to the bridle, the kites flew perfectly and exceeded our expectation.  We were left scratching our heads for constructive feeedback, we both agreed the kites were pretty much perfect.

The ability to modify the feel of the kites to work with any rider style was a bonus and we tested them unhooked, hooked in, throw around style and drifting down the line.  The kites were excellent in all aspects and really allowed us to push our surfing skills without the encumberance of the kite.  It just appeared to be everywhere it needed to be, effortlessly.  Having full confidence in the kite allows you to not worry about it and shift your full concentration to the wave at hand and getting into the best position to exploit the wave.  That's what I want in a Wave kite!

Since then, the kites have now arrived in Perth at our shop (First in the world) and have been in the hands of local riders who have been enjoying the kites in less than perfect conditions.  There are many favourable comments on the Seabreeze forum.  I fully believe this to be the worlds best wave kite and so far, appears to have no negetives.

As soon as we get some decent winds, we recommend you drop in and grab a demo kite and give them a good go.  unfortunately, the new Reo bars aren't ready until September so we are issuing them with new 2011 Contact Bars for the time being.  Kites are available for purchase currently as kite only (and bag and repair kit and pump) and bars will be available as soon as we receive them in September.  They are very reasonably priced (some may even say cheap).  We have stock in sizes from 4 thru 12 in even sizes.
