Body surfing is high on the kids list of things to do, and we felt the beaches in Maui were "safer",although we saw first hand last year that looks can be deceiving...suffice it to say, we are 'small wave" folks :) I am just so thankful we have a opportunity to return, I'm addicted.

Answer 1 of 6: Will be on the big island and Maui first 2 weeks of August. any suggestions as to where on both islands the best surf might be. 3-6 foot surf would be great. Not much bigger. Thanks, DC.

Kahalu’u (in Kona) is a good place for surfing and a GREAT spot for snorkeling. This bay is a good place for beginners and you can also get surf classes and rent surfboard at the bay. Kahalu’u surf forecast. Banyans (in Kona) is a popular surf spot a few miles from downtown Kona. This is a local spot and only for experienced surfers.
